Staying on the
Forefront
In today’s increasingly complex
and pluralistic world, citizens must have the
knowledge and imagination to anticipate, adapt to
and drive change. The modern world demands citizens
who can think critically, reason ethically, and
effectively participate in determining their future
path and policy.
Since the Jepson School graduated
its first class in 1994, the world has changed
dramatically. The need for leadership, properly
understood and ethically pursued, has never been
greater. Our nation and the world remain in urgent need
of compassionate, intelligent and dedicated men and
women to meet the many challenges of crucial leadership
roles.
Jepson prepares students for their global futures
in many ways, including courses on leadership in
international contexts, visiting scholars and
faculty with international experiences, and the
summer study program,
Jepson at Cambridge.
Jepson scholarship has international footprints.
Increasing the global focus of research and
experiences and teaching is a key initiative of the
dean's office for 2008 and beyond.
Study abroad and other international experience
is a sign of intercultural competence that not only
builds on the leadership studies curriculum but also
appeals to potential employers and graduate schools.
The Jepson School encourages study abroad
and about half of Jepson students do engage in
travel learning experiences during the junior year.
Many engage in internships abroad. Many alumni
engage in international careers in business, nonprofits
and public service.
